A Well Enjoyed Durban Beach Holiday | Ethekwini

Want to runaway from the cold Johannesburg winter weather? Want to rest your mind your mind and body on the beach sand smelling the sea water? Want to see the heart and well kept South African zulu culture? Ethekwini, Durban is the place to be...Woza eDurban!

I visited KwaZulu Natal on the 14 of June 2007, winter time, but to my amazement and what people have always said about the humidity in Durban, it was true. This is the perfect getaway from any cold weather. Yes you do get that cold breeze, shorter days and long nights, but the sun is still shining and warm enough for you to go for a swim on the beach.

Durban North and South beach Surfing

If you are a surfer you will really enjoy Durban. It was my first time face to face with great South African surfers, these people really enjoy the sea, morning afternoon and evening, you would not miss a surfer on Durban North or South beach. Though it mostly white people who where doing the surfing, I was disappointed that I saw no black guys or girls there. Maybe they do come around sometime when I'm not there, but we do need some black surfers. All black people who stay around the beach in Ethekwini should really take the opportunity to learn surfing, its fun and a sport that you can enjoy.

People who live near the North beach and south beach of Durban really have it nice. It is not only a tourist attraction but also a place where most KwaZulu Natal people meet. Those who work closely to the beach, they take up some time to walk on the beach, before going home. And of course its the lovers favourite hangout spot.

KwaZulu Natal is loved by runners, not only because of the Comrades Marathon, but because of the air and environment. Some only visit for a jock around the beach and surrounding areas, but I must say it is worth the jock. With the sea breeze in your face and the light air around you, makes the running to be a walk in the beach.

Durban's weather is fine through out the year

I prefer to take a holiday in winter, because of the weather. I have always been stuck in these cold places during winter, but this time it was different.

In the morning of course you will have to wear your jersey because of the cold air. But from 8:am till 7:pm its all sunny and hot. That's the reason why Durban people can afford going for a swim in the middle of winter.

I made a mistake of not taking my swimming costume along, I thought I wont be able to swim because of the cold weather. But no! That was a big mistake, I had to go and but from the nearest shop.

So please don't be like the zuluprincess when you visit KwaZulu Natal. There will always be an opportunity for you to swim and walk on the Durban's beach...Ethekwini
