Before the Sandlwana war there was a spy from kwaZulu, his name was Sintwangu Mpande. He went around as if he was looking for cows to pay lobola with, but he was actually collecting the people's secrets. He collected everything that had to do with plans of destroying or attacking the Zulu nation.
When the white men came to attack kwaZulu, they were known by the zulu. That is when the Zulu men attacked them without them even preparing for the war. Sintwangu Mpande was not the only spy, there were many.
