The University of KwaZulu-Natal

The University of KwaZulu-Natal former known as Durban Westville because it was situated in Westville. The University was built in 1970 as the University College for Indians on Salisbury Island in Durban Bay. At first the University used to only accommodate Indian but later in 1990 it opened its doors to South African black students.

Because the University has gained so much credibility and good high education in 1949, it was then granted independent University. The growth number didn't stop and from it came out a rage of courses and achieved great opportunities for research in South Africa.

In 2004 the Durban Westville and Natal University merged to be the University of Kwazulu Natal.
